WOMAD Abu Dhabi | 2010
Musically adventurous, WOMAD returns to Abu Dhabi's Corniche with performers from more than 35 countries. Igniting the rhythm are the ever-popular drum-based groups, although many other forms of music are represented along with dance, visual arts and family-orientated events.
Headlining this year's festival is Damian 'Jr Gong' Marley (Jamaica), Hakim from Egypt, French-Algerian Rachid Taha, Transglobal Underground (UK), The Drummers of Burundi and Tinariwen (Mali). In between performances, visit the Taste The World pavilion, where artists cook up staple dishes from their native countries, or the Desert Cultures in Al Jahili Fort in Al Ain, highlighting the culture and heritage of the Arab Emirates.

WOMAD (World of Music, Arts & Dance) was founded in 1980 by former Genesis lead singer Peter Gabriel and the first ever edition was held in the UK in 1982. Since then, WOMAD has worked with thousands of artists and staged more than 160 festivals in 27 countries, bringing the sounds of global cultures to the mainstream.
