Mubadala Tennis Championship brings top players

The global tennis season starts here in Abu Dhabi with the world's best competing for the Championship title and USD $250,000 prize money. This year's line-up is the best in the tournament's history and welcomes World #1 Novak Djokovic who is making his debut to the event.
Novak Djokovic will be here to bring down the curtains on a record-breaking year. Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer will be in attendance as well.
David Ferrer, the world No 5, and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, the world No 9, will be returning for the Mubadala World Tennis Championship, while Gael Monfils, the world No 10, will be making his first appearance in Abu Dhabi.
With pride at stake, rivalries will be renewed when these global tennis icons play to a sold-out stadium of 5,000 spectators per day. Millions around the world will tune in to watch an event that is now firmly established on the global tennis calendar as one of the most admired tennis events.
Alongside the stars competing this year at the three day event, the Mubadala World Tennis Championship will feature a multitude of other attractions including a unique spectator village full of family-friendly interactive components and exciting activities to engage and entertain visitors. Join the fun on Day 1 of the event for Family Day with some competitive tennis and a lot of exciting activities to keep everyone fully entertained.
Through community engagement initiatives like the Mubadala Community Cup and the Mubadala Tennis In Schools Programme, the Championship has quickly established itself as an event ‘where something is always happening’ on the UAE event calendar while it works to raise awareness of the benefits of tennis and the importance of living an active healthy lifestyle, whilst leaving a legacy for the community beyond the tournament.
The Format
Six of the world's top men's players will compete in a single elimination series of matches with two players being given a bye from Thursday's Day 1 matches on 29th December 2011. Semi-Final matches will take place on Day 2 (Friday, 30th December 2011) with the final and consolation (3rd & 4th place) matches taking place on Day 3 (Saturday 31st December 2011).
