WAM Abu Dhabi, Jan. 2nd, 2012 (WAM)-- The Municipality of Abu Dhabi City is continuing its campaign to educate community on the importance of cleanliness in streets and neighborhoods, shunning bad habits, and complying with governing laws '&' rules in place in order to ensure better quality of life and sustainable environment for the residents of Abu Dhabi.

The Ministries and Public Institutions will close on Thursday, Dec. 01, 2011, and resume on Sunday, Dec. 04, according to the circular issued today by Humaid Al Qattami, Minister of Education, Board Chairman of the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources.

According to the circular, the Islamic New Hijri Year 1433 holiday has been moved to Thursday, Dec. 01, as it coincides with the national day holiday from Dec. 2 -3, 2011.

1 December 2011 will be a paid holiday for all workers of the UAE's private sector to mark the Islamic New Hijri Year 1433, the Ministry of Labour said in a statement.

Abu Dhabi Municipality has begun an awareness campaign to remind people they can be fined up to Dh500 for littering, discarding chewing gum or spitting in the street, officials said today.

"We have people entering Abu Dhabi every day and they don't know about the rules," said Khaleefa Al Romaithi, director of the municipality's public health division.

The public sector will get a four-day holiday to mark Eid Al Adha, while the private sector will get a three-day holiday, it was announced on Monday.

According to a circular issued by Humaid Mohammad Obaid Al Qutami, Minister of Education and Chairman of the Federal Authority of Human Resources, federal bodies and ministries will remain closed from November 5 to 8 for the public sector.

Private sector companies will remain closed from November 5 to 7, according to a circular issued by Saqr Gobash, Minister of Labour.
