MAWAQIF Parking Details
The Department of Transport (DoT) introduces Mawaqif, a comprehensive parking management program that aims to resolve parking issues in the capital.
For the initial phase, paid parking locations will be: the area between Khalifa Street and Hamdan Street as well as the area between sheikh Zayed 1st (Electra) and Liwa Street.
This is the first of nine stages to be rolled out to cover the main streets of the city by 2011. The enforcement of paid parking serves to aid motorists in reducing the time and stress levels encountered in finding available parking spaces as well as increasing vehicle turn over and preventing the misuse of limited spaces.

Prepaid cards: 50, 100 dhs
Coins 0.25, 0.50, 1.00 dhs
Timing
8 am to 9 pm Saturday to Thursday
FREE parking on Fridays and public holidays
Residential Permits
Residents living in paid parking areas can apply for a resident parking permit in Mawaqif customer service. Each is entitled to 2 permits. Cost 800 dhs for the first permit and 1200 dhs for the second permit.

Since yesterday was the first day to apply the paid parking, honestly i noticed that it is working, there were alot of parkink space in Hamdan street, in Khalifa as well, hope they will continue this way to solve this issue, Good work mawaqif
