Congrats Dear for the gud offer and all the best,
Rents are coming down here in Abu Dhabi. When are you planning to be here.
In the same amount i think you can get one semi-furnished apartment in city also. And if you will come after a month or two till then Rent might get reduced further.

Hi Dear,
I suppose initially you will come alone. And will not need immediatly the big flat.
For single person here many separate rooms are avaliable to share with families or Bachleors, depending on your taste.
Till u'r family didn't come in Abu Dhabi u can stay there and save a good amout, single rooms are easliy available here within 2000-3000 Dhs / month basis that too depending location and condition of flats.
I was also staying here in single bedroom flat with indian couple who stay in separate room. In august i'm moving to single bedroom flat b'cause my family is coming in August.
I suppose no need to worry abt accomodation now a days as suitation is much better then earlier.
If u do'nt mind can i ask from where u belong and which company u are joining here.

Landed in Abu dhabi
Hi guys, I have landed in Abi dhabi, its a pretty good place.
I have two queries which I will appreciate if anyone can answer it:
1. I have Omani driving license more than 4 years old, is it possible to transfer it to get Abu dhabi license.
2. How do I go about in finding a good 1 bed room flat?

Welcome to Abu Dhabi, I hope you will enjoy it, in regard to the driving license, you can not transfer it, but you can go directly to the Street Test, with out any classes, you have on chance to pass so be sure to do it, if you did not pass from the first time then you have to enroll in school.
Try to check Classified section in this site, and check out gulf news as well

Thanks for the information
I have started searching for accomodation, lot of options but not like the one I want, most of them in Villas which are illegal I guess, not quote sure.
As for driving license, I will start applying once I have the resident card.
Slowly getting adapted to this environment, things are expensive here, may be because I dont know the place around.
Lets see, things will get sorted out as time passes by.

Relocation to Abu Dhabi
I have got a job offer in Abu Dhabi and am expected to join by June 12th, 2011. I am relocating from Chennai, India to AD, U.A.E. My husband has not yet been able to find a job and he is planning to accompany me by taking a tourist visa for a month and then look for a job asap. No kids. First one month, the company is taking up the expenses for hotel accommodation.
Basic: AED 7500
Housing: AED 8082
Transportation: AED 2509
Utilities (Phone): AED 301
Air Fare: AED 490 p.m
Total: AED 18,882
Other insurances and stuff is also taken care by the company. Do you think this is a good offer?
I was born in the U.A.E and was there for 20 years, but been out of touch since 2001 as I had settled in India. Now, since I'm going back, so much has changed and I need help.
Is the rent always given on an yearly basis or can we ask for 11 month contract and give rent on a monthly basis? What is the average rent for a 2 B/R apartment in Abu Dhabi? Do you think it would be better to stay in Dubai and car pool to AD for work? I am right now looking for a 2 B/R accommodation in Abu Dhabi, using online sources. I don't know how reliable is that? Can one of you help me?
Relocation to Abu Dhabi
Sorry to miss, but my company is also providing AED 27,551 for settling-in and AED 9184 for moving.
Hi, welcome you to Abu
Hi, welcome you to Abu Dhabi.... I too had a lot of Q's before I came but now settled down nicely and having a good time.
The rent of apartments is different in different part of the city and also varies from flat to flat. Also depends on how good u negotiate. Which part of the city your office is located? If in Mussaffah, the rent for 2BHK starts from 65,000 AED annually, the same in Khalifa city A, but these two places are like 20 mins drive from the city. In the city, its a bit expensive.
You can use this websites for search, its quite reliable as I used it to find my apt as well.
http://abudhabi.dubizzle.com
www.gnads4u.com
Monthly, Quaterly, Half year and Annual payment all options are available and generally depends on what the owner demand is.
I was staying in a furnished 1BHK Hotel apartment and was paying monthly 7000, the condition was that I had to pay 6 months in advance, I had enjoyed my stay there until I decided to move in to a two BHK apartment.
Some agents will charge you 5% commission of the yearly rental.
I think you can utilize the one month to search for a good apt, its easy to find now.
I think the allowance you are getting is good, you can try negotiating with them for an increase in basic.

Relocation to Abu Dhabi
Thanks saha82!!!
Thanks a lot for that info. I won't be able to negotiate at this stage as the offer has been reviewed, signed, and approved. However, the rest seems assuring.
Since we are coming from India, paying for a year or half-year would be really a burden on our shoulders. Paying commission of 5%, paying the rent for 2 months in advance, and then signing a contract with the owner would be more preferable. Hope that would happen.
Thanks anyways.
