Hi,

I am currently working in Qatar and have got a good offer in Abu Dhabi. The company is based in Dubai Internet City. They want me to join within 15 days and have asked me to resign from my present job. But I am hesitant since since they have still not processed my Visa. Should I resign before getting my employment Visa & ticket? Usually how long it takes to get an employment Visa? Please advise.Thanks.

I have already signed a contract with them but was advised by few people here not to resign before getting the visa. They will send the entry employment visa first for me to enter and then the RP will be stamped. I am really confused as I don't want to be in a position where I have no job in my hand. So please advise.

Yes, they are asking me to resign first, but I haven't done so. I need to give one month notice here in Qatar, but I am planning to give a much shorter notice since I won't be having much time after getting the Visa as my joining date is 25th September.

I had that same predicament

I had that same predicament 3months ago...I was in Qatar back then when a job offer from Dubai came up. I resigned after giving then 1 month notice. I went back to my home country and after a month, they gave me a visit visa and converted it to a working visa. It's just a matter of taking risks.

Thanks for all your comments. I have decided not to resign and wait for the visa instead as I am not in a position to take any such risks now. Your comments really helped me reach a conclusion.
