Greetings & Salaams to all...

I know its a very delicate and a regular topic..what is the cost of living in Abu Dhabhi??
Ive searched the net enough. Planning to discuss an opening with a reputed co. in AD .. so planning to ask for the following...pray let me know its ok..or any changes...

Basic Details: Family consists of myself, wife & 2 school going kids (aged 5 & 7).

Note: All amounts in AED only.

Rent : For 1BHK - Approx. 90k-100k / year (any advice on a decent family oriented location?)
For 2BHK - Approx. 150k / year
Food : 3k/month
Electricity & Water: 600/month (in winter elect. would be lesser...but im taking througout)
(also, considering at least 1 AC running all through the day)
Furnishing: around 25k for a 1BHK including appliances..dunno for a 2BHK.
Petrol: around 750/month
Telephone/Mobiles: 300-400/month
Internet: 150/month
Education: 2k/month (1k for each child)

Considering the above -- u think if i ask for a package deal of 30-40k AED per month would suffice?

Thanks in Advance for your support and advice..

Assalaamoalaikum.

Junaid

OK lets see, the flat rent is

OK lets see, the flat rent is ok, you may pay little more to get a good condition flat, like 170k for 2BHK, food are more than enough it will depend on your life style, 600 for Water and Electra city is too much i think 350 is enough.
Petrol is good, Telephone is enough for local calls only if you have international calls you will need more,
Go for 40k Package as you need to save as well, also you did not mention the car matter, a good economic will cost like 1500 per month a brand new..
good luck

Thx bigboss - that was quick...
Well..for the car...i had thought of around 1.5k too.
I m currently in Oman...so is it wiser to move to AD? The main aspect is the salary difference and probably i woud be able to save more i guess.
Secondly, would i b able to find a good condition 1BHK for 100k in the city ? Since my kids r still pretty small, maybe i can skip the 2BHK and save on that much...what do u say?

The office most prob is on Najda street...somewhere near the Abu Dhabhi Islamic Bank building...do i get options for residences nearby? What abt residences near the Abu Dhabi Indian School so that its better for the kids?

Thx again -- J

Near to Najda probably you

Bigboss's picture

Near to Najda probably you can find a good one, with 100K, go now for 1 BHK, 50K is a good amount to save, You will be able to change your License to Abu Dhabi License but you have to go through a road exam which will be not very hard. Good Luck

With 100K you may get a good deal in Tourist Club area, which is near by Najda and also not so far to the Indian school.

Thx Bigboss n Solo12...this was invaluable advice.

Whts the procedure for employement visa .. i mean does it take a long time? Also, i hope the license doesnt take too long to transfer cuz i hate cabs plus my family wud have to suffer. :(

As far as the environment is concerned...i heard it livelier than Oman.

so..finally, the bare minimum i ask for is .. ?? and to live comfortably and save around 5k-10k a month .. i would have to ask for ..?

Thx - J

Ahlan wa sahlan - check out the online pages of www.gulfnews.com and www.khaleejtimes.com in classifieds you will find available flats & prices - personally I think it's harder to find a 1 BR than a 2 BR.
